Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project

Here’s an update on LA Metro’s new light rail route…

Metro’s plan for better transit includes the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project to bring more travel options and access to opportunity. This project will extend from E Line (Expo) at Expo/Crenshaw Station and merge with C Line (Green) at Aviation/LAX Station, connecting the Crenshaw Corridor, Inglewood and El Segundo.

The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project will serve the Crenshaw District, Inglewood, Westchester and surrounding areas with eight new stations:

  1. Expo/Crenshaw
  2. Martin Luther King Jr.
  3. Leimert Park
  4. Hyde Park
  5. Fairview Heights
  6. Downtown Inglewood
  7. Westchester/Veterans
  8. Aviation/Century

On this future line, the Airport Metro Connector (AMC) at Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street, will provide a direct connection to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Status

Metro began constructing the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project in 2014. Walsh Shea Corridor Constructors has not yet reached a sufficient level of systems testing to accurately forecast the opening date of the project.  Once they do, Metro will provide a forecast for the opening. The forecast will include five to six months of equipment testing and training of Metro operations and maintenance staff.
